A review has been conducted of the Biddenham Conservation Area and a consultation document – BIDDENHAM CONSERVATION AREA – has now been issued by the Borough Council on the proposals for change following the review.
Three extensions to the current Conservation Area are proposed, and the good news for the Friends of the Biddenham Village Pond, particularly in the pond project’s 30th anniversary year, is that proposed extension 2 is to include in the Conservation Area the village pond and also the field beyond through which runs the Coffin path.
There will be a public meeting on Tuesday, 5 July at 7.30 pm in the Church Barn when there will be an opportunity for us all to comment on the proposals, and if you’re not able to attend but even if you are, written responses can also be sent to the Borough Council by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or post (Consulting Bedford, Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford MK42 9AP), and there is an online response form you can access at http://www.bedford.gov.uk/council_and_democracy/consultations/conservation_area.aspx
The consultation period runs from today (27 June) to 22 July 2016. Hard copies of the consultation document and the response form have been placed in The Three Tuns in Biddenham and in all the Borough libraries.
We hope everyone in the village will feel able to express their support, at the meeting or in in writing, for the inclusion of the village pond and field beyond in the Conservation Area. Please tell your friends and neighbours in the event they may not yet be aware of the consultation document and the opportunities to comment. Thank you on behalf of the pond team and the Friends of the Biddenham Village Pond.
