So what’s going on in the field by the pond?

Agricultural activity in the field is of concern if it might add fertiliser or other agents to the run off to the pond with potentially detrimental effect on water quality, impacting life in the pond.

If a change in agricultural activity happened also to be part of a process aimed at eventual development of the land for, for example, housing that could threaten not only the pond’s setting in the village landscape but also its very existence from the impact of development on the water table.
