On a lovely summer’s day, our Summer Splash Out and Friends AGM on Sunday, 7 June was a most pleasant, relaxing, enjoyable and well attended occasion. Thank you to everyone for coming along to join us in the Church Barn and for your continuing support for your village pond.
We looked back over another busy year for the village pond, including the kind donation of a new bench by the Lawlor family, a generous grant from the Biddenham Show Committee, and the opening of the Biddenham Heritage Trail which we hope will introduce the pond to many new potential Friends walking the trail. There was a slideshow of events during the year and the first cut of a video we are putting together to show a typical year in the life of the pond, the pond team, Friends and volunteers. You can see the full review of activities tabled at the Splash Out by clicking here – AGM 2015.
The pond management committee was re-elected for a further year at the Friends AGM held during the afternoon and Andrew Ewing was re-appointed as independent examiner of the accounts.
Our cream tea bakers and makers once again provided a most delicious spread, and deservedly were warmly thanked by the eaters and drinkers!
And if you’re not already a Friend of the Pond, you can print a membership application form here and become part of the village’s effort to conserve and maintain the pond as a valued village amenity and wildlife haven.
We’ll be at the Biddenham Show on Sunday, 6 September from noon, and finally, another date for your diary: Saturday, 7 November from 10.00 am to lunchtime, our Autumn work morning at the pond. More details nearer the day on the website, on the Facebook page, in The Loop and on the village notice boards.
