We were so pleased our Summer event and AGM on Sunday, 8 June was so well attended by both children and adults, and thank you everyone for coming along to join us in the Church Barn and for your continuing support for your village pond.
We had a slideshow of events during the last year and a video of activity at the pond some 20 years ago. The highlight, as always, was Chris Jones’ display of wildlife under the microscope, a magnet for all ages.
We looked back over another busy year for the pond, including the launch of the pond’s own Facebook page and the installation of new direction signs to the pond at both ends of the Coffin Path. Our new pond banner, gleaming in the sunshine on a lovely summer’s day, greeted attendees as they approached the Barn. You can see the full review of activities tabled at the event by clicking here – AGM 2014.
The pond management committee was re-elected for a further year at the Friends AGM held during the afternoon and Andrew Ewing was re-appointed as independent examiner of the accounts.
Our cream tea bakers and makers were warmly thanked for providing a delicious spread.
If you are not already a Friend of the Pond, for the small sum of £5 per annum your household could join the Friends and be part of the village’s effort to conserve and maintain the pond as a valued village amenity and wildlife resource. You will be most welcome. There’s a membership application form here you can print and complete.
We’ll be at the Biddenham Show on Sunday, 7 September from noon, and finally, another date for your diary: Saturday, 8 November from 10.00 am to lunchtime, our Autumn work morning at the pond. More details nearer the day on the website, on the Facebook page, in the Biddenham Bulletin and on the village notice boards.
