Under a starry sky, last night’s enjoyable frog foray brought to an end a busy seven days down at the pond.
Kicking off with Saturday’s Spring work morning, Monday evening then found 20 enthusiastic Brownies from the Great Denham Pack seeking out and investigating the wildlife at the pond, ably guided by our own Chris Jones.
After the Brownies left, the pond mower had its first outing of the 2014 mowing season.
And then on a very pleasant Friday evening, unlike last year’s first foray, seven frog forayers armed with torches identified a gratifying range of pond inhabitants, including a toad, newts, both great crested and smooth, great ramshorn snails, water scorpions, water boatmen and caddis fly larvae. Once again the frogs shunned the foray. But there’s always next year.
