From the launch of the pond website our posts have been categorised by topic, for example, work morning, and splash. At the bottom of each post you will see the category or categories in which it is included. And at the top of the side bar you will see the category ‘cloud’ in our case named ~ Ripples on the pond ~ which includes the various categories we have adopted: the larger the font size the greater the number of posts included in that category.
We have now taken a further step in the website’s development and introduced tagging of posts, which means we can include a more detailed description. We are using this particularly to identify references in posts to wildlife in and around the pond, for example, great crested newt, and frog. At the bottom of each post you will also now see, as well as categories, any tags attached to the post; and there is also now a tag ‘cloud’ in the side bar, in our case named ~ Pond life ~: similarly, the larger the font size the greater the number of posts with that particular tag. We have retrospectively tagged posts made since the website launched. …
So there are now three ways in which you can search for posts, depending on what you are looking for: through the category cloud (Ripples on the pond); through the tag cloud (Pond life); and through the ‘News archive’.
The ‘Search’ facility at the bottom of each page enables you to search the whole site, posts and pages.
Whilst we’re talking about features on the website that you might find helpful, you may have noticed at the bottom of each page and post a ‘Share’ button which if you click on it reveals four more buttons: ‘Facebook’, ‘Twitter’, ‘Email’, and ‘Print’. So if you come across a post or a page you would like to share with family or friend, you can do so quickly and easily through whichever of the first three you wish to use, or you can print a copy for them. Neat!
Now for something completely different: the Autumn issue of splash will be finalised and printed after the Autumn work morning on Saturday, 9 November and we aim to have it with Friends before the end of the month.
Phew, the end. Now, how to categorise and tag this post??
