Life goes on

Addressing the Annual Parish Meeting tonight (8 May), Peter Applewhite, Chairman of the Friends of the Biddenham Village Pond, commented that the 2011 great drying out hadn’t meant death to life in the pond.

The species survey and the recent frog forays had confirmed life was returning, including the great crested newt, and a school pond dipping exercise the previous week had found amongst others, dragonfly and mayfly larvae, freshwater shrimp, lesser and greater water boatmen, ramshorn snail, wandering snail, daphnia, cyclops, and water measurer.

He invited those present to attend the unveiling of the new information board by the pond on Saturday, 11 May at 11.30 am, to visit the pond’s own new website, and to join the Friends.
