The evening of Friday, 22 March was freezing with snow showers and a very cold wind – just the sort of weather for looking for frogs at the pond! Chris thought he must be dreaming and had booked a date in the middle of winter.
Three brave souls, up on last year, joined Chris with torches at the ready to search the cold, dark water. Sensibly, their amphibian quarry kept their heads down and one common newt was briefly spotted. An enjoyable event – yes it is, and it was agreed to try again in a few weeks, so watch out for another date for another foray.
